Crumpled on the bathroom floor was a really cool crayon drawing of a dog. Apparently Matthew didn't think much of it - his art teacher gave the kids a step-by-step lesson of how to draw it - but I think it is so cool!

Pre-Halloween celebrations
This Halloween stuff is exhausting! Friday, I had the opportunity to run a few games at Matthew and Jake's school and upon walking in the front door, this is what I saw:

Boys on Wheels
Matthew was out in the rink as soon as he had his skates on.
Jake and I stuck to the carpeted areas.
We managed to get some shots of the three of us. I am cracking up in most of them because Jake keeps rolling away haha.
When they announced the Hokey Pokey, Matthew rushed out to the floor all by himself and did the whole thing! He didn't start falling until the "whole self in" part - which he took very seriously. He is so cool. :)
On our way to take Jake's skates off, I wanted to get at least one shot of him on his feet as evidence... but, it didn't work out very well. I LOVE the expression on his face haha.
As soon as we got those tennis shoes on, he was G-O-N-E hah. He would turn back, laugh and then run run run as fast as he could in the opposite direction. :)

Say gundo
We had a funny conversation in the car on the way home and it reminded me of one he had with Amanda (who is learning Spanish).
Amanda: Matthew, segundo.
Matthew: Gundo.
Amanda: No, saaaygundo
Matthew: (irritated) GUNDO!
Amanda: (Laughing) Noooo, say is part of the word... SE-GUN-DO
Matthew: say gundo?
heh
Anyway, I was talking about middle names and a Billy Joel song was on the radio, "In the middle of the night, I go walking in my sleep."
Matthew: Mom, the song is saying middle after you do.
Me: It's saying, "Middle after you do?" What the heck does that mean?
Matthew: Nooo, mom. It's saying MIDDLE aaaaafter yoooooouuu dooo.
Me: Huh?
Matthew: You said middle. Then the song did.
Me: Oh.
My kids crack me up. :D

Apparently, Jake is an artist too!
Our capitol building in Olympia. So pretty.
This morning we did some Halloween stamp activities (we got them from the Goodwill - brand new and everything). Here is Matthew's Halloween creation. :) He says that is a black widow in the spiderweb. Spoooooky. heh.
And this is something that Jacob created with watercolors. He showed it to me and I didn't believe he really did it. When I showed Matthew, he did a double take and said WOW JAKE. So, I know he didn't do it. Crazy. Looks... real. Like an actual something. Weird.

Remember these from your school days?
I found these great pattern blocks at a goodwill here, and then the pattern boards at a goodwill in Gresham - so cool. I loved these in school and hoped the boys would too. Talk about a total hit! Matthew was really into his projects and spent about 45 mins working on them. Jake did just a bit of one and then moved onto a new project. And of course, Jacket helped me with mine... hah. Anyway, love to see Matthew so engaged :)
